J. Daryl Thompson is a self-proclaimed stock trading addict who started his investment career with the legendary investment counseling firm of Fayez Sarofim & Company in Houston, Texas. Early in his professional career Daryl designed systems for the analysis, testing and presentation of data.
Originally a country boy from the Deep South with an unusual gift for numbers, Daryl received his degree in Mathematics from the University of Oklahoma.
Daryl, a self taught world class chess player, has gone head to head with chess Grandmaster Viktor Lvovich Korchnoi.
A world traveler, Daryl’s trading profits have allowed him to live a life that dreams are made of and to maintain a villa in Contadora, Panama.
He eats, lives, sleeps and breathes trading stocks. But not just for the sake of trading, he does it for the profits he finds and the lifestyle it affords him.
Daryl resides in Houston, Texas with his wife Barbara. They were recently thrilled when their daughter Stacy and her husband Adam presented them with their first grandson, West Preston Walton.

I got hooked on the stock market after reading William J. O’Neil’s fantastic book “How to Make Money in Stocks” back in 1990, and attending some of his original seminars back in 1990 when he himself and U.S. Champion Investor David Ryan were holding them.
Using what I learned, I got into Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO) at the “Pivot Point of the Decade”, October 1990. Although I didn’t ride it all the way up for the 10-year 19,042% return, it helped me create an average annual return of 80% for the 1990’s.
Nature’s Bounty (NASDAQ: NBTY) also helped during that time, scoring me a 10-bagger in just a year.
Finally, Taser (NASDAQ: TASR) gave me another 10-bagger in the early 2000’s. The TASR trade paid for my villa on the island of Contadora, Panama.

Other than analyzing stocks, I’m passionate about writing – especially copywriting sales and marketing material. I’m also a voracious reader, to the chagrin of my wife (we’re running out of room in our house for my books).
I love traveling and seeing new places. I also enjoy just about any kind of music.
I especially enjoy trips to Las Vegas, and I’m an avid video poker player. I usually manage to hit one Royal Flush each trip.
I am also passionate about marketing and human persuasion. I enjoy traveling to seminars related to copywriting and marketing.
Schooling, the university, fraternity/sorority, school is best known for, location, anything about your schooling or your school that is interesting:
I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BS in Mathematics, with an area of concentrated study in Computer Science.
I played the trombone back then, and was in seven different bands, including OU’s Marching Band. OU’s football team was a powerhouse during that time (1971-1975), and we won two National Championships. It was great fun going to all those games!
Hobbies, extracurricular activities, sports, sport enthusiast, etc.:
I spend most of my spare time researching and analyzing stocks and reading, but also enjoy watching Fox News. I like watching college football games as well.
